We had the perfect day for Olivia and Shane's Cornell University Engagement Photos. We had originally planned for the session to be a few days earlier, but when the day came it was dark and gloomy, and there was a pretty big chance we were going to have to use umbrellas the entire time. I asked them if they wanted to try again in a few days when the weather was nicer, and I am SO glad it worked out.
Cornell University (for couples and Ithaca Wedding Photographers)
There are so many locations for engagement photos on campus that I don't even know where to start. Thankfully, since Olivia and Shane were both students at Cornell (that's where they met), they knew exactly where to take me. I loved getting a tour from them, and I'm happy to say that next time I do an engagement session there I know exactly where to go. If you're looking to do a session there I would recommend:
Fall Creek Suspension Bridge - This is where we started our session and the lighting was absolutely perfect. It made for beautiful photos and I definitely recommend stopping by if you can. I imagine this bridge gets a lot of traffic when classes are in session though, so if you're doing your session then, you might want to skip it. If you do start your session here though, it's a pretty quick walk up a hill to campus.
McGraw Clock Tower - This clock tower is huge, so there are probably quite a few different locations on campus where you could capture it in the background. I loved being able to capture it behind them as they walked down the sidewalk.
Sage Chapel - Sage chapel is a gorgeous non-denominational chapel on the Cornell Campus. I especially loved the brick walls and teal doors. Don't worry if there are a lot of people around, it's a colorful, interesting background for photos from pretty much any angle, so just keep circling 👍.
Andy's Bench - I was so thankful that Olivia knew about this bench because I never would have known that it existed. Since Oliva and Shane met at Cornell, this was the perfect place for a few photos (the bench's inscription reads "To those who find true love and friendship at Cornell".)
War Memorial at Lyon and McFadden Halls - I have seen SO many photos of this exact spot, so before the session I knew I needed to figure out where exactly it was so that we wouldn't miss it. I didn't have to worry because Olivia and Shane knew exactly where it was, but I definitely spent some time before the session googling "Cornell building looks like Hogwarts" to figure it out 😆.
The Slope - We also made sure we got some photos at the top of the Slope looking down on the campus.
I had such a great time hanging out with Olivia and Shane, getting to know them, and getting a tour of the place they fell in love. It's not often that I get to do that with couples, so it made the session even more special. I can't wait to be back with them in Ithaca for their wedding this summer.
