If you're looking for a stunning location for your engagement photos, you’ll want to check out Minnewaska State Park in New York. Julianne, Jon, and I met up on a misty fall day, but when the weather is a little clearer there are beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains and crystal clear lakes. It's the perfect setting for romantic engagement photos.
If you're a Catskills wedding photographer, you know one of the great things about Minnewaska State Park is its versatility. There are so many locations within the park that are perfect for engagement photos, including rocky cliffs overlooking the mountains, fields of wildflowers (depending on the season), and serene lakes. This means that no matter what your vision is for your photos, you'll be able to find a spot at Minnewaska that will help bring it to life.
Hudson Valley Engagement Photo Locations
Another reason to consider Minnewaska as the location for your Hudson Valley engagement photos is its accessibility. The park is located just a short drive from New York City, making it an easy trip for anyone in the area. And with plenty of parking and well-marked trails, you'll be able to easily get to any of the park's beautiful locations.
When planning your engagement photo shoot at Minnewaska, you’ll want to be sure to take advantage of the park's amazing sunsets. Sadly, it was a bit too foggy for that when I met Julianne and Jon. We got a gorgeous, foggy, and moody fall day, but when the weather is clearer, I’ve heard the views of the sun setting behind the Catskill Mountains are breathtaking, and would make for some stunning golden hour photos. I love all the fall colors from the trees we were able to capture, but I image it would be just as lovely in the spring or summer or with some snow in the winter.
Minnewaska State Park Waterfalls
We didn’t make it to any waterfalls during Julianne and Jon’s engagement session, but Minnewaska State Park is home to a number of beautiful waterfalls, including Awosting Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Verkeerderkill Falls. These waterfalls range in height from 25 feet to 120 feet and would be a stunning backdrop for engagement photos.
About Minnewaska State Park
Minnewaska State Park has a rich history that stretches back over a century. The land that the park now occupies was originally owned by the Gertrude and Samuel Silveira family, who used it as a summer home and farm. In the early 1900s, the family began to sell off parts of the property, and in 1913 the State of New York acquired a portion of the land to create Minnewaska State Park. Since then, the park has undergone several expansions and renovations, and today it covers over 22,000 acres.
So, if you're looking for a stunning location for your engagement photos, consider Minnewaska State Park. Its beautiful views, versatility, and accessibility make it the perfect spot for gorgeous engagement photos any time of year.
