If you're dreaming of a lakeside wedding in the Finger Lakes with stunning views, flexible indoor-outdoor spaces, and access to some of the best cabin rentals in Upstate NY, The Vista at Seneca Lake Resorts might be the perfect fit. Overlooking beautiful Seneca Lake, this venue blends comfort and scenery with space to celebrate exactly the way you want to.
Sean and Nicole’s summer wedding at The Vista was full of sunshine, laughter, and one of the most stunning backdrops you could ask for. From getting ready nearby in a spacious vacation rental to dancing under the spacious white reception tent, their day was such a joy to photograph - and a perfect example of everything this venue has to offer.
If you're looking for dreamy waterfront views in the heart of the Finger Lakes, The Vista might just be your perfect Finger Lakes wedding venue.
Getting Ready Near The Vista
Sean and Nicole got ready at a nearby rental just minutes from the venue - a great option if you're not using the cabins inside Sampson State Park. There are plenty of charming rentals around Seneca Lake that work perfectly for wedding parties, and the short drive makes it easy to stay relaxed while still being close to the action. Sean and Nicole's rental was in Lodi, NY and I've been to other rentals in Lodi as well - all just as beautiful.
The Vista doesn’t have a designated getting ready space on-site, but that's where those nearby cabin rentals really come in handy (or one of the ten beautiful, modern cottages if you’re lucky enough to snag one!). Whether you're getting ready with a small group or a big crew, you’ve got options to make the morning feel calm and comfortable.
One of the other things I love so much about the area is that it's so easy to include lake views in your photos. The rental where they got ready had its own dock, so Sean and Nicole did their first look on the dock before sharing private vows.
Seneca Lake Views & Sunset Portraits
The Vista really lives up to its name - the lake views are incredible. Whether you're saying your vows in front of the water or slipping away for sunset portraits during the reception, it's one of the most scenic Finger Lakes wedding venues I’ve worked at.
A Photographer’s Take
From a photography perspective, The Vista is full of great light, beautiful angles, and natural backdrops that don’t need a lot of styling to shine. The layout makes the day flow smoothly, and the open space around the tent and lawn offers tons of room for portraits without feeling cramped.
If you’re looking for a wedding venue in the Finger Lakes that combines lake views, flexibility, and easy guest access, The Vista at Seneca Lake Resorts is a hidden gem that’s quickly become one of my favorites.
Ceremony & Reception at The Vista at Seneca Lake Resorts
The Vista itself is made up of a few distinct spaces that flow together seamlessly for a wedding day. Sean and Nicole held their ceremony on the lawn, with the lake glistening in the background - it’s one of those views that truly doesn’t need much extra decor.
For the reception, they used the indoor space for dinner and speeches, then transitioned to the tent for dancing. The Vista has the perfext setup, it's cozy while still feeling open and breezy - which is exactly what you want from a lakeside venue. The white frame tent sits right beside the main building and gives couples the flexibility to have a separate dance floor, or to have more space for additional guests seating.
Reception Space with Stone Fireplaces
One of my favorite features of The Vista is the pair of stone fireplaces inside the main building. Each one has a mantle that can be dressed up with florals, candles, or greenery and really sets the scene for your speeches and toasts. Whether you’re envisioning something rustic, elegant, or modern, it’s such a photogenic detail - and makes the space feel warm and inviting.
The layout with the tent right next to the main building also means your guests don’t have to travel far between spaces. Everything is close together, so dinner flows naturally into dancing without needing to shuttle anyone from one spot to another.
Parking, Cabins & Guest Convenience
One of the things I always pay attention to as a photographer (and former bride!) is how easy a venue is for guests. At The Vista, parking is super close, and you’re not walking a mile to get to the ceremony. That might sound like a small thing, but it makes a big difference - especially for older family members or anyone wearing heels.
Sampson State Park also offers plenty of overnight options, including those ten modern lakeview cottages and additional campsite rentals. Whether you’re planning a full weekend getaway or just want a comfy place to crash nearby, your guests have options.
