Julianne and Jon's Cutler Botanic Garden engagement session is proof that you can still get beautiful, vibrant photos on gray, overcast days. I mean, look at these colors! Speaking of colors, I absolutely loved Julianne's yellow dress and jean jacket. When couples book a wedding or engagement session with me, I send over my engagement session guide. It gives you ideas on session locations, what to wear, and what to expect. One of my favorite outfit tips from that guide is adding layers. Even if you don't want to go for a full outfit change, adding a jacket can switch things up just enough, and Julianne's was perfect. It did start to rain a little near the end of our session, but we didn't let that stop us.
What to know about the Cutler Botanic Garden (for couples and Binghamton Photographers):
- They're open every day, all year, from dusk till dawn.
- In some parks/locations you'll need to get permission to shoot there and pay a fee for a photography permit. Lucky for us, that isn't the case here. The garden is free to enter and use for photography.
- A quick walk through the garden will give you a ton of different backgrounds without a ton of walking.
- This is a favorite spot for professional photographers in Binghamton, NY (for the reasons mentioned above) so we may have to do a little waiting, or skip around if there are other sessions going on (totally not a big deal because the gardens aren't that big.)
