When Rob and Cara said they wanted to do their engagement photos at Emerson Park in Auburn, NY I was super excited. Not only because it looked the perfect engagement session location, but also because I’ll be photographing a wedding there later this year and this was an awesome way to check the venue out beforehand.
Emerson Park Owasco Lake
Emerson Park in Auburn NY is at the very top of Owasco lake and the grounds are gorgeous. I got there early so that I could check it out before Rob and Cara arrived and I was so happy to see that not only was there a beautiful pavilion, but there were a few different stone walkways, benches, a paved pathway by the water, a stone bridge, and a pier you can walk down to get closer to Owasco Lake. Rob and Cara chose this as their engagement session location because Rob has a boat that he brings out on the lake during the summer to go fishing. While they’ve mostly just used the boat launch, they thought Emerson Park would be a stunning location for early spring engagement photos (and they were totally right).
Emerson Park (for Couples and Syracuse Wedding Photographers)
Emerson Park is about a 40-minute drive from Syracuse NY, which makes it a great place for Syracuse wedding photographers and couples who want to get out of the city for their engagement photos.
One thing that you’ll definitely want to keep in mind is that Emerson Park Pavillion is a popular wedding venue, so if you’re planning to do your engagement session there, you might want to plan it during the week, especially during the summer months. You don’t want to show up only to find out that you won’t be able to use the park for photos because there’s a wedding going on 😅.
You'll also want to keep in mind that, according to their website, pets aren't allowed in the main park. So this may not be the right location for your session if you're looking to bring your furry family members. If you want more information on that, check their website here.
Emerson Park has kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboard rentals, so if you’re an outdoorsy couple, using Emerson Park as your engagement session location is a great way to incorporate some of the things that are unique to you as a couple into your engagement photos.
