We took Sarah and Andy's Finger Lakes Engagement photos on a beautiful fall day in late October. When Sarah and I were discussing possible locations for their engagement photos, she mentioned that she and Andy love enjoying food and wine in the Finger Lakes so I knew we had to find a way to incorporate that somehow.
Tips for couples and Finger Lakes Wedding Photographers
- There are a lot of beautiful locations close together in the Finger Lakes, so there's no need to stick to just one spot! For our session, we started out at Taughnannock Falls State Park in Trumansburg, NY and wrapped up the session at Bet the Farm Winery, which is less than a 10-minute drive from Taughannock Falls.
- There are tons of wineries and vineyards in the Finger Lakes, so you could honestly do a whole session there if you really wanted to. Just make sure you always call ahead to get permission and schedule a date and time to stop by.
- Schedule your session earlier in the day so you have time to hit the wineries after (yes, I realize this post is very wine-centric 😆). It's a great way to turn your engagement session into a memorable date.
Bet the Farm Winery
The owners of Bet the Farm Winery in Trumansburg, NY, were SO sweet to let us stop by and take some photos. The winery was started by Nancy Tisch in 2006, the big blue barn (that you'll see in the photos) was built in 2018, and in 2020, she and her co-owner Kit Kalfs harvested their first Estate Reds. It is a beautiful property, and I definitely think I'm going to need to go back on my own to sit in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the vineyard and do some tasting 😉. Sarah and Andy had never been to Bet the Farm, but she messaged me after to say they had a great time and think they've found a new favorite winery.
