Krista and Tyler’s Arlington Acres wedding in Lafayette, NY was definitely one to remember. I had been checking the weather all week, hoping maybe the rain would pass us by, but when the day came, it was rainy and beautiful.
We had planned for a first look for Krista and Tyler, so when it was clear that the rain wasn’t going to let up, I wanted to find a place where they could see each other for the first time and interact without having to hold umbrellas. When location scouting for Krista and Tyler’s engagement session a few months before, I had found a greenhouse about 10 minutes from their venue. We didn’t end up using it for the engagement session, but I was hoping we could that day for their first look. I made the drive to Lafayette extra early that morning and stopped at the Carol Watson Greenhouse first. I went inside and explained the situation and thankfully they were happy to let Krista and Tyler do their first look and portraits in the greenhouse.
Carol Watson Greenhouse
The Carol Watson Greenhouse was beautiful, and the perfect place for Krista and Tyler's first look. The greenhouse has been around since 1981, and it's obvious why. Everyone was so sweet, helpful, and excited to see Krista and Tyler. They're open all year-round, so you should definitely go check them out. AND, for all you animal lovers, they even had little cards on the counter to let pet parents know which of their plants are safe options for dogs and cats 🥺.
Arlington Acres
Once we got back to Arlington Acres, we took photos of the wedding party and got ready for the guests to arrive. Since it was raining, Krista and Tyler had their ceremony in the Toolshed under the glow of the string lights. It was the perfect ceremony location for a rainy wedding day. After the ceremony was over and they were ready to head back over to the barn, I'll never forget the venue staff holding down the tent outside the Toolshed so that it wouldn't blow away in the wind and rain as Krista and Tyler got on a golf cart to be driven to the reception 😆. They are the sweetest couple, and definitely ready to weather any storm together.
