Knotting Hill Farm in Jordanville, NY is gorgeous rustic, and romantic wedding venue located less than an hour and a half from downtown Albany, NY, meaning your wedding day can be an dreamy escape from the city without driving for hours on end. Even better, with eight bedrooms and three bathrooms, Knotting Hill Farm sleeps up to 30 guests (and access to the property for the whole weekend is included) so your VIPs won’t even have to drive themselves home after a long day of celebration.
One of the things I love the most about Knotting Hill Farm is the bridal suite/getting ready space for your wedding party. Right down the hall from the upstairs bedrooms, there’s a large room with mirrors and plenty of natural light (a makeup artist and photographer’s dream). It makes getting ready before your wedding day a breeze and the room photographs beautifully. I’m also completely in love the colorful floral wallpaper in the upstairs hallway where I photographed Emma’s dress and bouquet.
Barn Wedding Venue Near Albany NY
One of the things that really stood out to me is that even though farm wedding venues are typically more rustic, in a lot of ways, Knotting Hill Farm felt more historic and romantic than “country”. The Farmhouse was built in 1802 and with the sunlight streaming through the leaves and onto the covered porch, it really did feel like we had been transported to a different time. This really is a stunning venue and I love that you can choose to host your rehearsal dinner here too or even your engagement party if you'd like. I love the idea of getting pumped up for your wedding by hosting your engagement party here and getting a little preview of what your wedding reception will be like.
See that STUNNING bouquet that Emma's carrying? Her grandmother made it (and all the other floral arrangements for the wedding). Her grandma is a retired florist and on the morning of the wedding she and Emma's mom were out in the barn working on the flower arrangements. She did an AMAZING job and I absolutely loved all the bright colors and textures she incorporated.
Ceremonies at Knotting Hill Farm can be held outside under the huge maple tree, or upstairs inside the barn in front of a large stained-glass window. The nice thing for couples is that both upstairs and downstairs in the barn are accessible by wheelchair, so your reception will be easily accessible for all your guests. For Emma and Tyler's wedding we were outside, but I got a chance to peek at the indoor ceremony space as well and it was gorgeous.
Knotting Hill Farm (For Upstate NY Wedding Photographers)
If you're an Upstate NY Wedding Photographer, you've probably photographed a lot of barn weddings. In this case, you know that barns tend to be pretty dark and it can be tricky, but I'm happy to say that just like the rest of this venue, the reception space at Knotting Hill Farm photographs beautifully.
The staff at Knotting Hill Farm was incredibly helpful, shuttling guests to and from the parking lot in large golf carts. They even made sure to let me know that they would be ready to drive us up to the field behind the property around sunset for some photos in the field. I’m so glad they did because the golden hour photos I took of Emma and Tyler are some of my all-time favorites. All of these reasons are why, out of all that I've seen, Knotting Hill Farm is my favorite barn wedding venue in upstate NY.
