Ever since I talked to Julianne and Jon for the first time, I knew there was going to be something SO magical about The Garrison winter wedding photos. Located just an hour outside of New York City, The Garrison boasts breathtaking views of the Hudson River and the surrounding mountains, making it the perfect location for a winter wedding. The venue itself is warm and inviting, with elegant decor that complements the natural beauty of the outdoors.
The getting-ready suite at The Garrison is SO cute. Julianne and her side of the wedding party got ready there and I loved all the mirrors and makeup stations and how the windows brought in so much natural light. It's also located just down the hall from the rooms where Julianne and her wedding party were staying, so they didn't have far to go in the morning to get ready.

As a wedding photographer, one of the things I love so much about The Garrison is, of course, all the beautiful location options for your wedding photos. With so many picturesque spots to choose from, it's hard to pick just one favorite. The garden ceremony space is an elegant backdrop for capturing those intimate moments during the wedding ceremony. The stone lookout offers a romantic and classic setting for stunning portraits of the newlyweds. The outdoor lounge is a great little spot for photos framed against the beautiful reflective glass walls. Finally, the field overlooking the breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley is an ideal location for capturing those sweeping, panoramic shots that truly capture the beauty and grandeur of this special day. Whether you're looking for a classic or modern feel, The Garrison has it all and is sure to provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos.
Winter Wedding Venues Upstate NY
If you're planning a winter wedding in Upstate NY, The Garrison in Garrison NY is an excellent choice for your venue. Not only does it offer breathtaking views of the Hudson River Valley, but its floor-to-ceiling windows provide an ideal way to enjoy them from the warmth of the indoors. As an Upstate NY wedding photographer, I've seen some very dark and stuffy venues, but those huge windows at the Garrison are a dream, especially in the winter, because they bring in SO much warmth and natural light. I was so happy to see when I got there that the Garrison had winter weddings in mind as well when they planned the layout of the venue. So many wedding venues have greenery in the summer, but in the winter all the plants are dead and brown, but that wasn't the case with The Garrison. There were plenty of shrubs and trees around the venue that keep their leaves all year. Not to mention, the reception space is modern and elegant, with plenty of room for dancing and celebrating. With its luxurious amenities and stunning scenery, The Garrison is the perfect place to create unforgettable memories with your loved ones on your winter wedding day.
Hudson Valley Wedding Venue with a View
If you're looking for a Hudson Valley wedding venue with a view, you definitely need to check out The Garrison. As a wedding photographer, I can confidently say that The Garrison in Garrison NY has one of the best. The stunning views of the Hudson River Valley from the venue are breathtaking, making the most picturesque backdrop for wedding photos. Whether you're looking for sweeping vistas, lush greenery, or a romantic sunset, The Garrison has it all. As a photographer, I appreciate the variety of scenery that the venue offers, and I love that I can capture my clients' special moments against such a stunning natural backdrop. I know I've mentioned those floor-to-ceiling windows already but they make all the difference, letting your guests enjoy the gorgeous view throughout your entire wedding.
Of course, one of the biggest concerns about having a winter wedding is the weather. However, The Garrison is well equipped to handle any winter weather conditions, with indoor ceremony and reception spaces that are just as beautiful as their outdoor counterparts. Julianne and Jon got lucky with an unseasonably warm day and we were able to have their ceremony outside in February (I still can't believe it), but whether you have your ceremony indoors or outdoors you can rest assured that your wedding will be warm, comfortable, and beautiful, regardless of what the weather is like outside.
At the end of cocktail hour we snuck outside for some quick golden-hour photos, and it was SO worth it. Look how gorgeous the Hudson Valley looks all lit up with that winter golden hour glow.
Garrison Wedding Venues
I recently talked to a couple who said they had attended a wedding in The Garrison's other reception venue "The Windgate" and realized that I didn't even know that there were two Garrison wedding venues! The Windgate is another room on the property that is used for smaller, more intimate weddings, so instead of having your reception in the larger River Room (pictured here), your reception would be held in the smaller, but still lovely Windgate Room, which can accommodate up to 120 guests. The Windgate is also perfect for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, or a farewell brunch the day after your wedding. The Windgate has french doors that open out onto a garden terrace and a large deck overlooking the Hudson Valley.
I absolutely love the string lights that are hung from the ceiling in the River Room where Julianne and Jon had their reception. They give off the coziest, most romantic glow and look so beautiful reflected off the glass of the floor-to-ceiling windows.
A winter wedding at The Garrison in Garrison NY is truly a magical and unforgettable experience. From the stunning natural beauty of the Hudson Valley to the warm and inviting atmosphere of the venue itself, everything about a winter wedding at The Garrison is absolutely perfect. As a wedding photographer, I definitely hope to capture the romance and beauty of more winter weddings at this incredible venue, and I highly recommend it to any couples looking to tie the knot during the winter season.
