If you're looking for a wedding venue that blends history, beauty, and a little bit of magic, The Munro in Jordan, NY, might just be the place you’ve been dreaming of. Whether you’re drawn to the gorgeous cobblestone house, the sprawling grounds, or the stunning views, this venue has it all - and if you're planning a wedding here, you're in for something something really special.
I was lucky enough to photograph Sarah and Mike’s wedding at The Munro before it officially became a full-fledged wedding venue, and it was such an incredible experience. Their day felt like a sneak peek into the venue’s potential, and I can't wait to see the transformation with the new reception hall. If you’re looking for a wedding venue just minutes from Skaneateles, you're going to want to check out The Munro.
Getting Ready at The Historic House
Sarah and Mike spent their morning getting ready in the historic house, and I can't say enough about it. We actually did their engagement session there too because the 8-bedroom, 4-bathroom home has so many cozy spots that made for the perfect backdrop for photos. With it being such a large house, I loved that Sarah and Mike could both get ready there on the morning of their wedding while still making sure they didn't see each other before their first look. There’s the library, parlors, and even a billiard room so there's plenty of space to spread out and enjoy time with your wedding party before the day begins.
For Sarah and Mike, the front lawn was the perfect spot for their first look. Lush greenery, a beautiful view, and the two of them reading their private vows on the front porch. So sweet and intimate - it’s moments like these that make a wedding day feel so special.
Wedding Photos at The Munro in Jordan NY
As a wedding photographer, I really can't say enough about how perfect The Munro is from a photography perspective. Located just minutes from Skaneateles, this Jordan, NY wedding venue has space for couples to get ready in the same beautiful home, which makes the morning flow so much smoother for everyone - couples and photographers. Just outside the front door, the grounds are incredibly photogenic and perfect for your first look, wedding portraits, and photos with friends and family
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the house itself has endless opportunities for indoor portraits, and the covered front porch still gives you a stunning outdoor backdrop. The barn adds even more flexibility - it’s a beautiful ceremony option whether you’re using it as a backup or planning to get married there from the start. And now with the addition of the newly built Reception Hall, you'll have a modern, elegant space ready to go - rain or shine.
I’ve seen so many venues across New York State, and it’s genuinely rare to find one that checks all those boxes so effortlessly.
Rustic Barn Ceremony
Sarah and Mike tied the knot in the rustic barn, and it was absolutely perfect. Even though The Munro was still in the process of becoming a full-on wedding venue when they got married, it already felt like a completed venue. The barn was set up with church pews, and the light was filtering through the trees as the guests made their way inside to take their seats. If you're looking to have your ceremony outdoors at the Munro, in front of the house, by the pond, or really anywhere on the property would make for a stunning ceremony space.
Wedding Weekend at The Munro
One of the best parts of getting married at The Munro is the chance to celebrate with your loved ones for the entire weekend. The venue offers exclusive 3-day access, which means you get to take your time, enjoy your celebration, and not feel rushed at all. From decorating on Friday to a relaxed DIY brunch on Sunday, you and your guests can take it all in and soak up the beauty of the venue.
And since The Munro is just minutes from Skaneateles, your guests can explore the charming lakeside village during their stay - think shopping on Genesee Street, boat rides on Skaneateles Lake, and cozy cafés and restaurants perfect for a pre-wedding coffee run or post-wedding brunch. (You can see more about why I love weddings in Skaneateles here.)
Plus, if you want to unwind before the big day, there are tons of fun outdoor activities to keep everyone entertained on-site—think bocce ball, croquet, and even corn hole. It’s all about relaxing and having fun with the people you love most.
Tented Reception at The Munro
Since the reception hall wasn’t available when Sarah and Mike got married, they held a tented reception in a beautiful field just off the main house. If you're into the idea of an outdoor reception with incredible views, you can still make it happen here!
The Munro Reception Hall
That said, if you're looking for something a little more modern and cozy, the brand-new reception hall is designed to impress with its stunning 24-foot bar, featuring beautiful lighting fixtures that were once part of the Waldorf Astoria in NYC, adding a touch of classic glamour. The spacious hall boasts a gorgeous water vapor fireplace that creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a warm and intimate celebration. Step outside to the twinkle-lit patio, which features a grand outdoor fire pit - ideal for guests to relax and mingle under the stars.
The hall is also equipped with both heat and AC, which means you and your guests will be comfortable no matter the season (and as someone who has photographed many weddings on both sweltering and freezing days, trust me when I say that heat and AC make all the difference). Whether you're planning a grand celebration or an intimate gathering, this venue blends historic charm with modern luxury, creating the perfect space for you to dance the night away with your loved ones.
