If you’re considering getting married in the Finger Lakes, you’re going to want to check out this stunning Treman Center Wedding. I have fallen completely in love with this venue. Nestled in the scenic landscapes of upstate New York, The Treman Center stands as a testament to the splendor of nature combined with the elegance of a not-so-classic barn venue. Honestly, it’s easy to forget that this venue is a barn at all, I know I did. The Treman Center is located in Newfield, NY, less than 20 minutes from downtown Ithaca, NY.
Unique Wedding Venue in the Finger Lakes
Nestled on the outskirts of Treman State Park lies The Treman Center, an enchanting wedding venue borne out of passion and dedication. Owned by husband and wife team, Kevin and Leslie, The Treman Center was initially a weathered 19th-century threshing barn, Kevin's passion for its unique architecture led to an extraordinary transformation. With meticulous care, he and his team dismantled the structure, preserving its essence plank by plank, stud by stud, and nail by nail. Transporting it ten miles away, they reconstructed this marvel, resulting in a 6,000-square-foot space that beautifully merges historic charm with 21st-century innovation. The venue seamlessly combines its agricultural roots with modern amenities, offering couples a captivating setting where history meets contemporary comfort for their wedding day.
And now, to the venue itself. Picture a beautiful three-story barn-style building, harmoniously blending modern elegance with rustic charm. This architectural marvel houses various spaces designed for every stage of your celebration. The indoor reception space seats up to 90 people, but the venue can accommodate up to 150 guests with a beautiful outdoor tent. Every floor also has heat and air conditioning, which makes it perfect for summer and chilly fall weddings. From the spacious getting-ready space on the top floor to cocktail hour in the courtyard, this venue is beautifully laid out.
Getting Ready at The Treman Center
Hannah chose to get ready on the top floor of The Treman Center with her bridesmaids. The top floor includes a bedroom, bathroom, a dressing area with mirror stations for getting ready, and multiple lounge areas. The third floor can be used by the couple the night before and the night of the wedding, which makes getting ready even easier. As a photographer, I couldn't get enough of this getting ready space.
The Treman Center's Italian Courtyard
Hannah and Justin had their first look in the gorgeous Italian Courtyard at the Treman Center. The stone walls, water feature, and gorgeous summer greenery were the perfect backdrop, and I know that this courtyard was a huge reason that they fell in love with the venue in the first place.
One of the reasons that The Treman Center is such an incredible wedding venue is that there are endless gorgeous backdrops for photos. We walked all around the property during Hannah and Justin's wedding, finding lush greenery, beautiful stone walls, and interesting architecture. The painted red walls and abundance of plants breathed even more life into their photos, and as a color-loving photographer, I was in heaven.
Wedding Ceremonies at The Treman Center
Hannah and Justin had their ceremony on the gorgeous lawn off the second floor reception space, but ceremones can also take place in the Italian style courtyard off the first floor, or inside on the second floor if needed. One of the things I love so much about this ceremony space from a photography perspective is that there are beautiful backdrops in every direction. It didn’t matter what direction I was facing, I didn’t have to worry about cropping out lines of cars in the distance or unsightly buildings (which is the case with a lot of other outdoor ceremony spaces). The Treman Center is perfect from every angle.
Cocktail Hour
Hannah and Justin’s cocktail hour was served from the first floor of The Treman Center. Guests ordered drinks at the bar and then brought them out into the gorgeous Tuscan courtyard. The first floor is also where the large state kitchen is for caterers.
Second Floor Reception Space
The reception space on the second floor of The Treman Center is an absolute dream. With the beautiful stone fireplace, Steinway piano, and floor to ceiling windows, it’s a charming, elegant blank space for any wedding. I absolutely love that Hannah chose to go with bold colors and lots of candles, a personal favorite of mine, but I can see how this space could be easily transformed to fit any wedding aesthetic.
After dinner, we headed downstairs for Hannah and Justin to share their first dance and the courtyard became the dance floor. I honestly can’t think of a better way to end your wedding night than dancing under the stars.
