From the time I first met Casey, I was super excited about the idea of taking winter wedding photos at The Gatsby in Vernon, NY. I love the 1920's Art Deco style of the venue and knew that it would pair so well with the classy Christmas vibe that Casey and Bryan were going for. I also think it's super important that you understand the layout of The Gatsby and the other venues on the property, so I've included more information about that at the end.
The Gatsby, Vernon NY
When it comes to choosing the perfect venue for your winter wedding, The Gatsby in Vernon, NY should be at the top of your list to check out. This elegant art deco-style venue has breathtaking historic details like sparkling chandeliers, brick walls, a spacious and covered front porch, and a decorative tin ceiling over the dance floor. The real highlight of the venue is the antique 1920s bar which is ideal for hosting a memorable cocktail hour. Additionally, there is a private outdoor patio for the warmer months that provides a beautiful setting for you and your guests to enjoy. With its vintage charm and elegant ambiance, The Gatsby is the perfect location to make your 1920s-style wedding day unforgettable.
The Silver Theater
The Silver Theatre is the room that Casey and Bryan had their ceremony in for this wedding, but receptions can also be hosted in the Silver Theatre. The space exudes vintage charm with its upholstered bar, retro cinema marquee entrance, and circular reception area. The reception area boasts white upholstered walls and large windows that offer natural light and a view of the surrounding grounds and forest. The neutral white and silver walls complement any color scheme, and the crystal chandeliers add a touch of elegance. The room also includes mood lighting and wall sconces for additional illumination. If you're having your reception in The Silver Theatre, your guests can dance the night away on a glossy white dance floor. There's also a beautiful bar and retro details for your guests to enjoy during your reception.
Art Deco Wedding Venue
As a wedding photographer, I'm always on the lookout for unique and visually stunning venues to recommend to my clients and The Gatsby in Vernon NY is a fantastic Art Deco Wedding Venue. The 1920's style wedding venue is one-of-a-kind and features a speakeasy-style entrance to the reception space hidden behind a bookshelf, giving guests the feeling of stepping back in time to the Roaring Twenties. As a wedding photographer, this was one of the features I loved the most. It can be really tricky to get those beautiful photos of the empty reception space because guests always start wandering in, leaving coats and purses on chairs, and it can be tricky to photograph around that. At The Gatsby, I didn't need to worry about that at all, because with the reception space being hidden behind the bookshelf, guests didn't even know where the space was until after cocktail hour, so I could spend time photographing all the details Casey and Bryan had planned without having to rush.
The venue is a perfect blend of old-world charm and art-deco elegance. The bar, with its sleek lines and geometric shapes, adds a touch of glamour to the space, while the warm fireplace and soft lighting create a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The reception space is nothing short of spectacular, with high ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, and a spacious dance floor.
Vernon NY Wedding Venues
If you've heard of The Gatsby, you might know that Premier Wedding Venues CNY, who owns The Gatsby, also owns a few other Vernon NY Wedding and Reception venues, some even on the same property. Since Casey and Bryan's wedding was in the winter, we had the place to ourselves, but during the rest of the year there are multiple weddings on the property on any given day (something that's important to know while planning). For every reception venue, there is a coordinating outdoor reception space.
Weddings at The Gatsby, The Silver Theatre, and The Apple Orchard Lodge are all held on the same property (Dibbles Inn Orchard and Estate):
The Gatsby
You've read all about The Gatsby above, but I did want to point out that in the summer, ceremonies for receptions at The Gatsby are held outdoors at The Grotto. The Grotto is surrounded by trees with a paved stone path as your aisle and there's a beautiful stone wall that will be behind you as you say your vows.
The Silver Theater
This is the room where Casey and Bryan had their ceremony and you can read more about that above. In the warmer months, when receptions are held at the Silver Theatre, ceremonies take place at their Creekside ceremony location. Creekside is a covered outdoor ceremony location so you get all the benefits of an outdoor ceremony while still keeping you and your guests in the shade.
The Apple Orchard Lodge
The Apple Orchard Lodge is on the same property as The Gatsby and The Silver Theatre. Indoor and outdoor options are available, including a heated/cooled indoor space with a cozy ambiance of cedar and pine, elegant wrought iron accents, a fireplace, and a rustic bar. Step outside through the French doors to find a patio, outdoor bar, serene garden ceremony area, and a lush apple orchard. Ceremonies for The Apple Orchard Lodge are held in The Garden. The Garden is a lush ceremony space located right outside the lodge under a huge shady tree.
The following two venues are each located on separate properties:
The Cannery
The Cannery is a separate property from the venues above, but is located right next door. This venue is a modern, industrial wedding space that offers a rustic and vintage ambiance with its classic design of wood and exposed brick. Formerly the Wards Canning Company, the venue is climate-controlled and provides year-round wedding services. The venue can host up to 325 guests in its indoor and outdoor event spaces. Ceremonies at The Cannery are held in The Chapel (a monochromatic, indoor, all-white, painted barn-style ceremony space) The Plaza, (a stone-paved outdoor courtyard nestled between two sides of The Cannery building) or on The Lawn (an outdoor, open-air ceremony space with a paved aisle next to a row of trees).
The Mason Jar
The Mason Jar is also a separate property from the venues listed above but is located just down the street. This venue is a rustic wood and exposed brick venue for small weddings (comfortably accommodating 30-90 people). Ceremonies can take place outside in a small garden/patio.
