From the views of sparkling water and rolling hills to the gorgeous vineyards and estates, there are so many things to love about being a Finger Lakes wedding photographer. I want to share with you a little bit about what I think is most important when looking for a wedding photographer in the Finger Lakes, and some of the reasons why I'll never stop photographing weddings there.
Choosing a Finger Lakes Wedding Photographer
Having a wedding photographer who captures true-to-life color is super important for documenting the beauty and authenticity of your wedding day in the Finger Lakes. The region's stunning landscapes, from the peaceful lakes to the vibrant vineyards, deserve to be captured the way they actually looked, without any heavy filters. Choosing someone who edits with true-to-life color makes sure that every moment and detail, from the vivid hues of the surrounding landscape to the delicate tones of your wedding party's attire, is captured the way you'll remember it when you think back on your wedding day. If you're getting married in the region and thinking about what your wedding photos will look like, here are some of the things I love the most about being a Finger Lakes wedding photographer:
Unique Ceremony Spaces
Some of the most unique ceremony spaces I’ve photographed have been in the Finger Lakes. From a beautiful waterfront ceremony right on Cayuga Lake at Ithaca Farmers Market (the bride even made her entrance on a sailboat), to a stunning vineyard wedding at Wagner Vineyards (a gorgeous Seneca Lake wedding venue), no place does ceremony backdrops better than the Finger Lakes.
Picturesque Landscapes
As a Finger Lakes wedding photographer, I never have to worry about a lack of gorgeous scenery for portraits. I’ve taken wedding day portraits on the water, in a forest, in front of waterfalls, and even in one of Ithaca’s gorges, and with every wedding I’m finding another venue that I can’t wait to go back to.
Fall Foliage in the Finger Lakes
The Finger Lakes in the Fall is my favorite place to be (and if I’m photographing a wedding, even better). I absolutely loved this colorful fall ceremony nestled between the trees.
Fantastic Food
The Finger Lakes might be known for its wine, but the food is also incredible. I’ve been so impressed by all the different options I’ve seen couples choose for their Finger Lakes weddings. From locally made ice cream to wedding day pie (I love the idea of non-traditional desserts on your wedding day) it's always so much fun getting to see what local caterers and farm-to-table restaurants are offering.
Elegant Architecture
The Finger Lakes isn't just rolling hills and sparkling lakes though, there's also some seriously stunning architecture. One of my favorite examples, and I'm sure any Ithaca wedding photographer would agree, is Cornell University. Cornell weddings are dreamy and romantic, and even if you decide not to have a Sage Chapel wedding on campus, the University still makes for great portraits before or after your ceremony.
